Rock is the source of most things on Earth – and of lichens as well. Both inspire us and are among the most important materials for Simiæn.
The natural stone Pannonia Green is quarried in Austria on the highest mountain of Burgenland, the Geschriebenstein. It forms the last foothill of the Alps before the land opens into the Pannonian Plain – a transition between two landscapes.
Pannonia Green is a metamorphite – a metamorphic rock that nature has shaped from various, often very ancient materials into something new. Metamorphic rocks have perhaps the most eventful past of all rock types. This particular stone is also harder than granite – ideal for long‑lasting objects that endure for generations.
SIMIÆN STONE TABLEWARE
Our natural stone cups are made from carefully selected offcuts supplied by Stein Schwarz. In this way, we make the most of this valuable material – resource‑conscious and with the highest standards of quality.
Creating fine, delicate cups from a single piece of natural stone requires sensitivity and a spirit of innovation. Together with Stein Schwarz, we have developed our own process that combines craftsmanship and precision.
We deliberately chose Pannonia Green as our material:
it is exceptionally robust – the cups are even dishwasher‑safe and therefore ideal for everyday use.
A special feature is the haptic experience: tea and coffee are particularly pleasant to drink from these cups because they appeal to multisensory perception – appearance, weight, surface and temperature blend into a harmonious experience.
